and Conditions of Certification:
As part of the 21st Century Cures Act, Congress established seven conditions of certification for certified health information technology (IT). In December 2022, ONC released materials explaining two of those conditions of certification—the Communications Condition of Certification (“Communications Condition”) and the Application Programming Interface Condition of Certification (“API Condition"). These materials from ONC provide information about these two conditions of certification and describe required, prohibited, and permitted practices of certified health IT developers under the 21st Century Cures Act.

The Health IT Playbook was developed by The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) and designed to provide practical, technical, and workflow assistance including tools and resources that providers and practices can leverage when implementing and optimizing health IT, including electronic health records (EHRs).

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) plan outlines federal health IT goals and objectives, with a focus on improving the access, exchange, and use of electronic health information and individuals’ access to their electronic health information.

ONC tool for users to share issues and concerns related to health IT products including health IT certification, safety, usability, and information blocking claims.

HIPSC addresses barriers to health information exchange and aims to effectively address privacy and security issues pertinent to electronic health information exchange through multi-state collaboration. The purpose of the toolkit is to increase provider awareness of the privacy and security benefits and challenges of HIE.
