2024 Chapter Excellence Award-Gold Level Winner
(August 2024) We are pleased to announce that our chapter is in receipt of the Gold Level of the 2024 Chapter Excellence Award! The award recognizes truly extraordinary chapters that surpass excellence in chapter management. We are in the company of 59 other outstanding chapters. In order to achieve the Gold Level of the Chapter Excellence Award, chapters must meet 20 Bronze criteria, 14 Silver criteria and multiple Gold level activities. Criteria include such activities as having a legislative action plan or agenda, holding a volunteerism/community service activity, holding multiple stand-alone meetings, having revenue sources outside of dues and meeting registration fees, implementing a strategic plan, implementing a formal recruitment and retention plan and measuring outcomes, conducting various activities for Medical Students, Residents and Early Career Physicians. We would like to extend a special thanks to those chapter members who assisted us in all of these endeavors! For their hard work and dedication, we received this award.

State Health Advocacy August Recess Grassroots Mobilization Challenge
(August 2024) Members of Congress are returning home to their districts during the August congressional recess. During this time, 91 is calling on internal medicine physicians to engage their representatives on important issues we need Congress to act on before the end of 2024.
To incentivize participation in this grassroots mobilization, the Advocates for Internal Medicine Network (91 grassroots network) is challenging members to see which states will have the highest engagement. Advocates can score points for their states by choosing to take one or more advocacy actions identified in the campaign.

(July 2024) Are you concerned about a practice or clinical issue or have an idea youwould like to suggest? If so, you might consider submitting a resolution to your Governor or chapter council.
Initiating a resolution provides 91 members an opportunity to focus attention at the 91 national level on a particular issue or topic that concerns them. Participating in the Board of Governors resolutions process provides the 91 grassroots member a voice and allows you to shape College policy that impacts the practice of internal medicine.
Not sure how to begin drafting a resolution? Researching the College's position on an issue can give you a start. The91 Board of Governors Resolutions Guide for 91 Membersis available to download and will help, too.The Guidewas created to provide members a short overview of the resolutions process essentials and highlights critical 91 online resources you must use.
Once drafted, members must submit resolutions to their Governor and/or chapter council. Chapter council approval is required to move resolutions forward to 91 national. Although not official 91 policy, a resolution becomes property of the chapter once the chapter council approves forwarding it to national. If effecting change interests you, the deadline for submitting new resolutions to be heard at theSpring 2025 Board of Governors Meeting isSeptember 27, 2024.

2024 John Tooker Evergreen Awards
(April 2024) The John Tooker Evergreen Awards Program provides opportunities to recognize the valuable contributions of 91 Chapters as they strive to enrich, educate, and engage membership. In 2024, 91 recognized ten winning chapters. Our Chapter received the 2024 John Tooker Evergreen Award for our initiative, New Multigenerational Scientific Program Session – Bridging the Gap for Student and Senior Chapter Members
New Multigenerational Scientific Program Session – Bridging the Gap for Student and Senior Chapter Members
The Bridging the Gap Program was launched at Wisconsin’s September 2023 Chapter Scientific Meeting to create an opportunity that would engage senior chapter members and medical students in mentorship. Finding ways to re-engage our senior members, many of whom have retired, but continue to pay dues, has been a priority for our Chapter. Bridging the Gap also resulted in the creation of a medical student poster session at Wisconsin’s annual meeting. In the past, students listened to the scientific program sessions and often displayed a poster but did not have programming that targeted them. Some students felt they did not get to interact with senior physicians because the judges were overwhelmed with many leaving immediately after the session. The chapter increased non-student, non-resident members attending by 10%+. We had 86 members in attendance in 2023 and 64 in 2022.

Member Feedback is Requested on Spring 2024 Resolutions
(February 2024) Twenty-one (21) resolutions will be considered at the Spring 2024 Board of Governors (BOG) Meeting. With the exception of Resolution 9-S24, which will not be debated because this resolution is slated for adoption as a reaffirmation, please review each resolution and then indicate your support or opposition by completing theby the deadline your 91 Chapter Governor has requested or by midnight March 13, whichever comes first.
Your comments will be forwarded to your Governor to be used as part of his/her testimony on behalf of the chapter. If you have any questions, please contact Mary Giampietro, BOG Administrator, atchapter@acpmembership.org. Thank you for your input.

(January 2024) Congratulationsto Noel Deep, MD, M91, 91-WI Immediate Past Governor, on being elected to the 91 National Board of Regents! Dr. Deep commented,"I am incredibly grateful to serve our profession and our patients through this new role in the 91. I am honored and look forward to contributing to the outstanding work and advocacy efforts of the 91 for the betterment of healthcare.” The Board of Regents manages the business and affairs of 91. It is the policy-making body of the College. The Board is composed of officers and Council chairs, who serve ex officio, and Regents, who have been elected by the combined membership of the Board of Regents and the Board of Governors. Dr. Deep’s term becomes effective at the conclusion of the Annual Business Meeting (ABM) and Town Hall scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. ET in Boston, MA.

Call for Spring 2024 BOG Resolutions
(July 2023) Are you concerned about a practice or clinical issue or have an idea you'd like to suggest? If so, you might consider submitting a resolution to your Governor or chapter council.
Initiating a resolution provides 91 members an opportunity to focus attention at the 91 national level on a particular issue or topic that concerns them. Participating in the Board of Governors resolutions process provides the 91 grassroots member a voice and allows you to shape College policy that impacts the practice of internal medicine.
Not sure how to begin drafting a resolution? Researching the College's position on an issue can give you a start. The recently released 91 Board of Governors Resolutions Guide for 91 Membersis now available to download and will help, too.The Guidewas created to provide members a short overview of the resolutions process essentials and highlights critical 91 online resources you must use.
Once drafted, members must submit resolutions to their Governor and/or chapter council. Chapter council approval to move resolutions forward to 91 national is required. A resolution becomes a resolution of the chapter once the chapter council approves forwarding it to national. If effecting change interests you, the deadline for submitting new resolutions to be heard at the Spring 2024 Board of Governors Meeting isOctober 16, 2023.

Gun Violence Awareness Day
(June 2023) The 91 Wisconsin Chapter is committed to promote gun injury prevention and signed on to a statement recognizing Gun Violence Awareness Day (GVAD) on June 2nd. GVAD serves as a significant reminder of the urgent need to address gun violence and the devastating impact it has on individuals, families, and communities. Through a public health, multi-faceted approach, healthcare and public healthcare organizations, departments and systems can play a vital role in decreasing both intentional and unintentional firearm injuries and deaths. Together, we can work towards a future free of gun violence and create safer environments for everyone. .
Wisconsin Receives the 2023 John Tooker Evergreen Award
(May 2023) The John Tooker Evergreen Awards Program provides recognition and visibility to chapters that have successfully implemented programs to increase membership, improve communication, encourage member involvement, enhance diversity, foster careers in internal medicine or improve chapter management. The Wisconsin Chapter received the 2023John Tooker Evergreen Award for their initiative, Narrative Medicine: Celebrating Internal Medicine Physicians.
Narrative Medicine: Celebrating Internal Medicine Physicians
A key reason that 91-WI plans to continue the Narrative Medicine program is that we have been struck by the broad participation ranging from student members to retirees who have participated in a workshop or submitted a narrative medicine piece./p>
In 2021-2022, the Wisconsin Chapter's Women in Medicine Committee decided to enhance the “In the Life of this Wisconsin Doctor” narrative medicine program. The goal was to make the program a year-round chapter activity and to provide training to members who desired improvement of their creative writing skills and to connect with colleagues. Thirty members participated in this workshop. During the summer of 2022, the Women In Medicine and Medical Student Committee hosted a narrative medicine competition that culminated in a published e-booklet. Twenty-two narrative medicine pieces were submitted, and six prizes were awarded including a “People’s Choice Award” voted on by meeting attendees.

Member Feedback is Requested on Spring 2023 Resolutions
(March 2023) Fourteen (14) resolutions will be considered at the Spring 2023 Board of Governors (BOG) Meeting. Please review each resolution and then indicate your support or opposition by completing the by the deadline your 91 Chapter Governor has requested or by March 22, whichever comes first.
Your comments will be forwarded to the Chapter Governor to be used as part of their testimony on behalf of the chapter. If you have any questions, please contact Mary Giampietro, BOG Administrator, at chapter@acpmembership.org. Thank you for your input.

The Awards Committee requests your assistance in recognizing these individuals. Mary Bieter All Star Awards Voting Open
(December 2022)For the past 30 years, 91 has celebrated chapter-led programming through an annual awards program known as the John Tooker Evergreen Awards. This year we are celebrating the 30th year anniversary of this program through a special recognition program. The Mary Bieter Evergreen All-Stars Award program recognizes exceptional and sustained chapter-initiated programs that has supporting and adapted to the Internal Medicine landscape in the United States and around the world.
The goals of this program are to:
- Celebrate chapter-initiated programs that align with 91's priority themes;
- Increase prominence of chapter programs by granting 91's 161,000 membership base autonomy to select All-Star winners
Our chapter recently submitted "Story Telling: On the Front Lines of the COVID-19 Pandemic - and Beyond " and we need your help. For the first time in 30 years, 91's 161,000 membership will be asked to vote on the All-Star nominations they believe are the best. If you're a Chapter member, you have 3 votes. Review the nominations at acponline.org/allstars and vote today! Voting ends January 31, 2023.
