The Virginia Chapter will be holding a fund drive during the Annual Meeting for two local area charities: Arlington Free Clinic (AFC) and Northern Virginia Mental Health Foundation (NVMHF).听Donations can be made using the QR codes below.听
About the Arlington Free Clinic
For thirty years, Arlington Free Clinic (AFC), a community-based, volunteer-driven nonprofit, has provided free, high-quality healthcare to Arlington County adults听impacted听by significant inequities in accessing and achieving听optimal听health outcomes.听With the help of roughly 350 volunteers and 43 full/part-time staff, AFC provides access to comprehensive, patient-centered services including women鈥檚 healthcare, primary/specialty medical care, behavioral health services, dental care, physical therapy, vaccines, and referrals to non-medical safety-net services (the social determinants of health) such as food, housing, and transportation,听which are essential to overall health and well-being.
About the Northern Virginia Mental Health Foundation
The mission of the Northern Virginia Mental Health Foundation (NVMHF) is to raise awareness and acceptance of persons with mental health issues and provide individuals seeking mental health services in our community with the funding necessary to achieve their wellness goals.听
Founded in 1993, NVMHF is an all-volunteer organization that serves individuals who are Seriously Mentally Ill and are in treatment with the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board [CSB], the public behavioral health agency for Fairfax County and the cities of Falls Church and Fairfax. When an individual needs goods or services in order to move forward on their treatment plan and funding is not available, the CSB case manager can apply directly to NVMHF for a grant to pay for these goods or services. Thousands of individuals have been supported with job training, medical or dental services, and rental or security deposits as a result of this funding, and they are able to continue along their path to recovery with renewed hope and goals.
