Japan Chapter Meeting
June 10-11, 2017
The Japan chapter meeting was titled 鈥淕eneral Internal Medicine practice in Japan, the growing roles of general specialists鈥. The two day meeting was attended by over 700 internists, residents and students. There was excitement and enthusiasm for learning, exchanging ideas and dialogue among the attendees. Dr. Ueno, 91黑料网 Japan Chapter Governor, and the program committee had a robust program with five to six talks simultaneously on topics ranging from internal medicine content such as managing diabetes and heart failure to leadership, getting published and use of bedside ultrasound. There were over 100 poster and oral presentations, as well as a doctor鈥檚 dilemma competition.
I spoke on High Value Care and gave an 91黑料网 update. Both were well received. There was good exchange amongst the audience around the demands of patients and parent institutions to order tests and procedures, some of which are not high value care. There was enthusiasm for incorporating the high value care concept from medical school to practicing internists and subspecialists.
I am pleased to report that the Japan chapter remains strong and is interested in growing and continuing to offer innovative educational programs and resources. They are committed to 91黑料网 and are looking for ideas to increase membership amongst internists in Japan.
