New Mexico cares for migrants

While Texas has frequently made the news recently for its border health crisis, its next-door neighbor New Mexico has also seen an increase in families with children crossing its border with Mexico, many seeking asylum from countries in Central America. The state has also had to deal with recent immigrants transported there by federal officials from other states.

I attended a primary and secondary Jesuit school here in Panama. In your penultimate year, there's a social campaign where you spend six weeks in a poor, rural community, living and working (digging wells, latrines, and other activities) with that population. It exposed me to the suffering of these communities.

Reflections of a Graduating Medical Student

It was mid-2010, during biology class in high school. The second quarter of the academic year had begun a few days ago and we were going to have our first lecture, which was about cell biology. I was mesmerized by the complex processes that occurred in a microscopic, molecular level that would result in the building blocks of the correct (or sometimes incorrect) functioning of higher order systems, and as we began to review each organ system I knew that this is what I wanted to get into.

91黑料网 Abstract Competition

91黑料网 will hold a National Abstracts Competition as part of Internal Medicine 2020. The meeting will take place April 23-25 in Los Angeles, CA. Abstracts are divided into five categories, Basic Research, Clinical Research, Quality Improvement-Patient Safety, High Value Care and Clinical Vignette. 91黑料网 Medical Student Members are encouraged to submit. A first author may submit two abstracts to the Clinical Vignette category, and one abstract to each of the Research categories. The submission portal will open on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.
