91黑料网 Rallies for Legislation That Will Improve Access to Care and Strengthen Physician Workforce
As summer nears, the American College of Physicians is pushing for lawmakers to pass several important bills that will make a big difference in the lives of patients and clinicians. One bill affecting trainees would allow borrowers in medical or dental internships to defer student loan payments (without accruing interest) until the completion of their program. Another, related bill, would increase the number of Medicare-supported medical education positions by 14,000 over seven years.

Candida auris is an emerging fungal threat that has been spreading in the United States since it was first reported in 2016. This article uses case counts and data on colonization screening and antifungal susceptibility testing to describe changes in the U.S. epidemiology of C auris between 2019 and 2021.

Student-Driven Mindfulness, Meditation & Yoga Workshops: A Curricular Project-Based Strategy to Improve Medical Student Wellness
Medical students have higher perceived stress than other age-controlled students, and are subsequently at a higher risk of experiencing burnout as healthcare workers in the future. Mindfulness, meditation, and yoga-based interventions have been shown to decrease anxiety, improve mood, self-efficacy, and empathy in health professions students, and can improve brain areas related to focus.

Oncology
Medical oncology is the internal medicine subspecialty which involves the diagnosis and management of benign and malignant neoplasms. Internal medicine physicians practicing oncology (鈥渙ncologists鈥) typically assist general internal medicine physicians and other physicians in identifying individuals at risk for malignancy and investigating clinical symptoms and syndromes suggestive of underlying cancer.

Periprocedural Anticoagulation
Management of patients taking anticoagulants around the time of procedures is a common and complex clinical scenario. Providing evidence-based care requires estimation of risk for thrombosis and bleeding, knowledge of commonly used medications, multidisciplinary communication and collaboration, and patient engagement and education.

The internal medicine interest group at University of Nevada School of Medicine, Reno presented 3 challenging cases with ethical issues they'd experienced in their clinical rotations. Attendees were asked to reflect on these cases as if they were members of an ethics committee within a hospital, preparing them for similar scenarios they may encounter as practicing physicians.
