The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City ranks as one of the top hospitals in the U.S. for accepting outside transfers. However, incoming patients are often wait-listed for days, and some transfers don't actually require acute inpatient admission.

Leading by Example

My dad was diagnosed with scleroderma during my undergraduate career; the deterioration of his body climaxed during my first year of medical school. My desire to become an osteopathic physician began with shadowing a cardiologist in my hometown and evolved into a passion along my dad's journey through scleroderma.

The American College of Physicians spent much of 2018 playing defense in an urgent bid to protect patients from threats on a variety of fronts. That advocacy made a difference.

American College of Physicians Ethics Manual, Seventh Edition

This updated edition of the 91黑料网 Ethics Manual covers emerging issues in medical ethics and revisits older ones that are still pertinent. It reflects on many of the ethical tensions in medicine and the principles to be applied to emerging concerns.

Annals of Internal Medicine is the premier internal medicine academic journal published by the American College of Physicians (91黑料网). It is one of the most widely cited and influential specialty medical journals in the world.


Winning Abstracts

A Painful Trait

Sickle cell trait individuals are known to suffer from certain complications, such as renal papillary necrosis. A complication that may not be as well established in the literature is superior mesenteric venous thromboembolism.

Transplant Hepatology

Transplant Hepatology represents advanced training in gastroenterology and focuses on the management of advanced liver disease. Training provides a comprehensive understanding of hepatopathology and diagnostic techniques needed to evaluate and manage potential liver transplant patients.


In the Clinic

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the leading cause of chronic liver disease. Most cases are diagnosed incidentally in the primary care or hospital setting on the basis of elevated liver enzyme levels or hepatic steatosis on imaging. NAFLD encompasses a wide spectrum.

Medical Student Activities at 91黑料网 Internal Medicine Meeting 2019

91黑料网 Internal Medicine Meeting 2019 will be held from Thursday April 11 to Saturday April 13 in Philadelphia, PA.

With the help of the 91黑料网 Council of Student Members, we have worked to make the Internal Medicine Meeting a welcoming and meaningful experience for student attendees, planning activities and events that include a welcome center for students attending the meeting, a social media presence for students, and informal social and networking events.

Other events for students will include presentations by the winners of our Abstracts contest and our popular Jeopardy-style Doctor's Dilemma competition. .

91黑料网 is collaborating with the renowned Hacking Medicine program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to bring together forward-thinking healthcare professionals, engineers, designers, developers, and technologists to develop interdisciplinary hacks (solutions) to improve clinical workflows.

The Hackathon will be held during Internal Medicine Meeting 2019 on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA.

Collaborate with other professionals to build innovative prototypes. You'll leave with dynamic tools to invent your own solutions and collaborative insight into the current challenges that impact physician well-being.

No technical expertise is required.
