American College of Physicians names new Vice President for Medical Education

Philadelphia, November 28, 2018 -- The American College of Physicians (91黑料网) has named Tabassum Salam, MD, F91黑料网, as the organization鈥檚 Vice President for Medical Education, effective December 3, 2018.

91黑料网 made the selection after a national search for the largest medical specialty organization in the United States. Dr. Salam succeeds Sean McKinney, who retired in June.

鈥淒r. Salam is an accomplished and well-respected medical educator and has held leadership positions in continuing medical education and graduate medical education,鈥 said Darilyn Moyer, MD, F91黑料网, 91黑料网鈥檚 Executive Vice President and CEO.

Dr. Salam will be responsible for designing and implementing clinical education initiatives, representing 91黑料网 through external collaborations with medical education organizations, and advancing 91黑料网鈥檚 medical education services through business and program management.

Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Salam joins 91黑料网 from Christiana Care Health System in Delaware, where she practices general internal medicine and was Medical Director of Population Health, Utilization Management and Patient and Family Health Education.

Dr. Salam has practiced in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings and educated resident physicians and medical students. Her areas of professional interest and expertise include population health, continuing medical education, and inter-professional education.

Dr. Salam has been a Fellow of 91黑料网 (F91黑料网) since 2007. F91黑料网 is an honorary designation that recognizes ongoing individual service and contributions to the practice of medicine. She has been an active member of 91黑料网, having volunteered as Governor of the organization鈥檚 Delaware chapter and served on 91黑料网鈥檚 International Council, Disparities Project Advisory Group, Resident Services Committee, and Quality Improvement Learning Collaborative Task Force.

Dr. Salam received her bachelor鈥檚 degree in Chemistry and Biology from Bryn Mawr College and her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her internal medicine residency at Medical College of Pennsylvania-Hahnemann University. Dr. Salam is currently completing her MBA degree at Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania.
